GOMORRAH

Gomorrah

Italy 2008

DIRECTOR

Matteo Garrone

INTERPRETERS

Toni Servillo, Gianfelice Imparato, Maria Nazionale, Salvatore Cantalupo.

SCREENPLAY

Matteo Garrone, Nicholas Saviano

Gomorrah has talked so much thanks to the book by Nicholas Saviano. Di Matteo Garrone was rightly hailed the ability to penetrate the Italian reality, the most black, especially in his last two films. What is there to say that Italy needed a film that would put into play as the urban warfare that has raged in Naples. It was the egg of Columbus, many had thought, but surely there Gomorrah had the advantage of being able to realize, thanks to the media coverage of the film. The director had to be this: real, raw, hard-hitting, present only at certain times but those who absolutely airtight, the Camorra, the system, they do it from within. So a story to choral Amoresperros but much less film, absolutely no need for a spectacle that which is already perceived as spectacle: the war. And 'why no doubt the players are off the street at the heart of the film. Not because he can recite Cantalupo Servillo or a manner, nor for the other actors in the film. Why is the truth that speaks for itself that cries out for himself and transforms a seemingly small film into a giant with unstoppable force. Gomorrah leaves little talk saying, Gomorrah is a final product, emulation, but unique. And unstoppable.

In Bruges

SCREENPLAY

Martin McDonagh

What is "In Bruges"? A noir, a post-post-Tarantino or Coen, postcard or maybe a movie for the beautiful Belgian town (which, after having seen the film no one can deny the will to go there one day). Maybe, just maybe, the classification is made for little minds open, and the director McDonagh (Oscar winner for short always Gleeson) is certainly not the kind of person he thinks to dock to a genre only. Use them in different situations, as if to rape the same rules of the genre. First of all there Bruges (or calls the protagonist: the fucking Bruges), enchanted place chosen by the boss (a devilish Ralph Fiennes) to exile / vacation of two killers after a job gone bad. Place where the characters come into contact with more types of strange city looking forward to the long-awaited orders of the boss. Bruges is a place purifier, but damn, that opens minds, but I want to clear the living. A right place to implement a massacre by Greek tragedy. A city with its "works" and its way of life becomes the mirror of history to tell. On the other side then there are the narratives that solution does not always seem to guess: the gimmicks are too many and some characters seem to function only because sooner or later will be used to embed some crucial moment of history, problems of a good script in the dialogues ( Laughter is serious) but little interested in building on a history that is standing. Nothing so serious because at the end of the day, even if forced, back and bottom of "In Bruges" is a film that thrives on the situation by passing a critical intellectualism end in itself typical of Europe in a humanitarian need comparison with other types of cultures (which is the cornerstone of the theme of travel). McDonagh around the short story, to say what they want and how they want it. Indeed absurd, to cite one example, that a film like this for gourmets spares no details to show "gore" as if it were the last of Turtured movie. "In Bruges" is the apotheosis of how you should not build a movie but it is also the film that we waited so long. If he gives us a trio of high-level interpretations, and at least two scenes to pass on the history of cinema can only make us happy.

RESERVATION ROAD

Reservation Road

USA 2007

DIRECTOR

Terry George

INTERPRETERS

Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Connelly

SCREENPLAY

Terry George, John Burnham Schwartz

Ethan Learner ( Joaquin Phoenix) is a professor of a small American community. Happily married to Grace (Jennifer Connelly) and two children to change the perspective of life, when Dwight (Mark Ruffalo), a lawyer, invested his son, killing him on Reservation Road and then run away scared of the consequences. Drama, perhaps too much, this Reservation Road, the second by Terry George after the worldwide success of Hotel Rwanda. The plot immediately draws Iñárritu film Reservation Road, but for which little by that share, except for a certain taste in 'add strength to the characters. Instead, the film looks particularly at George Todd Field's film, especially the way we could enter the eye of the camera in the household: making us enjoy the drama with almost scientific method of mothers, fathers and sons. But is not George Field and his film remains on the surface. Of course it is not required to have the same narrative power of "In the Bedroom" but trying to come up with something that is beyond Elementary blend of Tragedy-Pain "was not a request so great. The story is not credible in its development fund and real characters rather than symbols of human weaknesses are mostly of the figurines with the tear ready. Even the subplot of clone of the "Death Wish", which could make it special, is able to complete because the director did not dare to sink. I mean to say that the film is almost a compliment deboluccio seems to tear a movie that excites, but does not think mostly can not even complete the final nell'inspiegabile (instead there is an explanation, but the division of pain for myself not is material to be analyzed, and the bottom is too easy to end it this way). There But something "good" in this Reservation Road: a critique of all the association for the protection of civil rights (in this case against the pirates of the road) to remove offenders from the family reality the victims themselves. I do not know if it is right to criticize, but at least there is something in the film that does not call directly to other films. The rest, unfortunately, is the usual old story of private emotions. Difficult even to mention the cast, everyone does their job, but it was hard to emerge from much flatness. Avoidable

21 great victory binge "is a phrase that continues to echo in the mind of a young mathematician aspiring doctor. The feeling in the blackjack tables when the combination goes up, the more sucked in by the players, the 21 that allows the figures to win more dizzying. To bring is a professor who formed a real team masters of the game of chance, guys who used math to get rich at the gaming tables. The guy is a pure, but as always happens too much money to move away from the dreams golden as the coveted medical degree from Harvard. Then a bad day someone finds their way to cheat the casino and the trouble starts ... "21" is a simple film, more packaging than substance, a film that perhaps as many passionate, fun for its time, but then forget easily. At times it seems to see a movie came out straight from the 80, only instead of a vintage Tom Cruise have an unknown Jim Sturgess, a pretty face as it was, but completely anonymously. A little 'as directed by Robert Luketic, to his credit of famous (almost) only "Legally Blonde," which goes on to pussy to loud music, photography Cosmpolitan and little else. Better to go with the guest stars: Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne are perfect in the roles of villain lorio antipodes. The script, although citations (one speaks of "Rain Man"), it has great shots of the wing and also held that it would be unexpected for the most part predictable. Kate Bosword version blonde (you know with dark hair as Lois Lane in the last Superman story) but it is by immediate ejaculation. One of the remarkable film. Nothing new under the sun calmly: You have been warned.

But this movie sucks! Ugly, but so bad that you can not believe, rambling, stupid, sometimes even by nonsense what is ill-conceived. Ok who has a beautiful photo, music, very apt, but the rest? This mess with no rhyme or try a thousand paths without a pick. And 'the festival of I, but I can not: I would be the "Kill Bill" horror film, but I just laugh, I would be the "Raven", but more like "Death Wish" with Frassica instead of Charles Bronson, I would be the definitive movie about vampires instead are a joke played on the pun Dracula. The scenes are so many top, add dall'inconsapevole love of crap: the maximum among all the reaches a prostitute at some point not to fuck off even underpants. In addition, the film is outrageously and dangerously moralistic: the vampire story, a kind of deviant moral code, it kills only the dregs of society that are then recorded a poor wanderer with a cough and a law student who smokes a joint. Crazy! Then the evil vampires are reduced to a paraplegic who is killed in three seconds, upset that a Chinese kung fu blows rebels and two ephebic rich guy. The vampire hunter then mysterious weapon that shoots darts without reloading, is hired by a mysterious sect that in a jiffy is soon forgotten dall'elaboratissima script and, last but not least, the vampires do not have the long canines. , but a kind of necklace Breil sharp as the sword of Beatrix Kiddon. The cast does not improve the situation: Lucy Liu is gorgeous, but as few monoespressiva and Michael Chiklis at the scene half an hour at most, a holiday bonus from "The Shield", it simply repeats the usual clichés already seen on TV. The director Sebastian Gutierrez is certainly not a great film nor a good writer as shown by mediocre works as "Snake on the plane" and "She creatures." If God dispenses his gifts as it does with the poor, artistic mediocrity Gutierrez should be engaged to Luciana Litizzetto and not with that beefy Carla Gugino. If we add that the film is produced Sam Raimi is the discomfort to the stars.

SCREENPLAY

Paolo Sorrentino

Among the possible titles for the film that he wanted to make up Sorrentino Andreotti, always inspired by the many nicknames of the Italian Parliament, was that of Beelzebub . It would not be not bad considering that the character was a truccatissimo and impassive Toni Servillo has staged almost demonic features, although more limited grotesque irony of the author Naples. It appears that the visible reference in the film that ricondurrebbero to Nosferatu and Pinhead of Hellraiser are completely random, and Sorrentino's will was to be sealed to the reality show despite this many bizarre characteristics of the protagonist, but it is undeniable that the movements of Servillo / Andreotti have the disturbing. The film speaks especially of the seventh Andreotti government, and then the fall of an empire that lasted decades of Italian history. Technically impeccable, strong technical support from the Director Cinematographer Luca Bigazzi, directed a spectacle of events, often shown with a surprising iconography. Andreotti is haunted by a veiled remorse for the death of Moro and what his image means in respect of the Mafia trials. The ambivalence between a cold and calculating Andreotti and his hidden humanity becomes the true subject of the film. In a dreamlike Sorrentino imagine that Andreotti confessed that his actions are such as to maintain a status quo, a balance that keeps the evil by the State above all else. Here, the ambiguity between good and evil becomes the very essence of the character Andreotti, his conviction that moves through the divine will, which is guardian and servant. Moreover Divo comes from "divine".

's weird to go see a movie, have it pleasure from time to time just for the sake of Pro sound and then Pop find that the film is one of the biggest flop in movie history. There's like a curse that is common to the failure of the film lover niche. Because for better or for worse this Speed Racer is the best work of "brother" and "sister" Wachowski, but strangely also their biggest misjudgment. Yet it was a really stacks up for the pleasure of women and girls. An ultra kaleidoscope of different colors and shit devoted to the culture of the soul. But the return of great American cinema busy (well rewarded at the box office) there is no space for a blockbuster? Where are the myriads of pimply kids in a row with eight pounds of popcorn to see the latest marvel of American industry. And while on one hand the "people" has the subtlety to get to meditate also of the highest works, on the other we are not the crumbs of what once could call a quick redesign of our memory. Then you could say that Speed Racer is a movie for film buffs or edible film only for those who at the time of the TV Anime and acronyms lived with the heart and head. It reverses the world, but the opinion does not change: the Wachowski films is amazing. A caramel fruttatone Anime and family values that can not wait to be home already. So let us leave aside for a good time at home packs of aspirin and do of evil. Migraine is a just punishment for having assisted for two hours at an atomic explosion of colors, lights and sounds before returning to live in what many seriously literary in common with a gray scale. We like? Maybe not, we prefer to imagine the film as in life assholes. The hope of a better world but still there is false and we have this week at the cinema. Try to experience until it is only a few or wait for the next meatloaf that will tell you who knows how many truths about life. This will be the Speed Racer film that may seem like having to buy a Blu-ray (the excuse more bullshit). I make a fitting final to please stop "acting" Matthew Fox for the good of all.

Arthur Marcum, Matthew Hollaway, Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby

Tony Stark is a billionaire and genius inventor, capricious and void, director of defense industries manufacturers and suppliers diarmo first for the U.S. government. During a test in the Middle East, to verify the effectiveness of an experimental weapon, is captured by a group of extremists. Wounded to the heart by a splinter is rescued and cured by Yinsen, a physician expert in cybernetics that apply an artificial organ. Forced by the guerrillas to build an invincible weapon for their cause, Tony designs a secret armor to escape the prison. Returning to the United States is determined to change their lives, to redress the injustice and defeat the lies of the powerful. Improved the armor with its advanced technology becomes Iron Man, a superhero by armor yellow and red.
Of cinecomix if they are made always plenty of them (think Mario Bava's Diabolik year 60) with excellent results in time (X 2 or less on all Burton's Batman) or bad (Fantastic 4, Ghost Raider, Spawn as beads incredible villainy). Iron man is not the tip apex of the genre, but its many cartridges that elevate it from the average of similar products. First, a skillful director who can never fall into demonic temptations of video clips, but instead can give vivacity, speed and adrenaline to the best scenes, those of action. Responsible actor / director John Favreau, who also wrote a delightful "Elf" with Will Ferrel great, and here at his first trial in testosterino kind of action. Then a great is part of the 'cast headed by a
manignifico Robert Downey Jr and a gigionesco
Jeff Bridges in the imagination as a possible candidate already Lex Luthor. Outline of a dull, but pretty Gwineth Paltrow in the role of red assistant Tony Stark / Iron Man, then follow the fashion of the kind of copper-colored dye the blond actress (Kristen Durst in Spiderman
it is the best example). The film follows the story of the comic rimordernizzando some parts of the story (Afghanistan instead of Vietnam) but did not rape no matter retention. The installation of the film is ironic, but there are scenes, like the initial one, where the tones are becoming increasingly gloomy and desperate. "Iron man "is a story of redemption, a man that made too much money a god on earth (for example the scene where he tries to go flying in space), but that death, war and despair simply human and make helpless. For this
billionaire Tony Stark creates an armored suit, not only to escape from a prison, but to resume her semi god, totally different from before this time: thanks to the metal he can return to his state of omnipotence, this time also physical, but with a different perspective. If you sell the first bomb was neither more nor less than a quick game to a game, now become the engine those same weapons to destroy the idea death and war. Death with death, war with war, Stark becomes the utopian dream of many Americans and Third World countries should be taken literally kick your ass dictators. The awareness of Stark is not so much on the beautiful punchline, but when he realizes the beauty of the secretary, as if now opening his eyes he could see what he accepted only in the first
surface. The last ten minutes, based on punches and phrases for effect, and are frankly terrible, even though they give the idea of comic book movie, do a bit 'lower the threshold of credibility at all. But it is useless to complain because "Iron Man" is still a cinecomix failed:
exciting fun, fast. We are confident that the next chapters will, if possible, even better. Two excellent cameos

MR 73 2008 French

DIRECTOR Olivier Marchal CAST

Daniel Auteuil, Olivia Bonamy, Catherine Marchal

SCREENPLAY Olivier Marchal

Some date back in style with the explosion of the French Polar World Marchal phenomenon. First there was Gangsters: intrecciatissimo noir where they already saw the interest in a methodical construction of the characters by Marchal. Then came the worldwide success of 36: the elegance that goes hand in hand with the narration for a film perfect. In all the two films we already felt a lack of confidence on the part of a director to the police, especially when Cerne fallible methods of body status, a factor that explodes in this Mr. 73. Marchal intends to new issues dear to him and exalts them until you get to a more comprehensive that drama in a very academic thriller. There's the protagonist, cynical detective destroyed by the tragedy that has turned its back to life (and not God in him, as he will be convinced of this), because of an accident that tore off his wife and daughter; is flanked by Justine, who had witnessed the killing of their parents and who now faces the release of the offender from prison. Marchal stages Buddy on a violator of the rules, where the comparison between them will be more bad than spectacular, in line with its vision of the police. In short, we existentialism thriller with a background, where the characters rather than asking "why", they wonder if it's worth it. But not everything seems to work. The elegance becomes self-satisfaction of the director and for many parts of the film seems to load speed and wanting to put all the tragedy does not strike down as it should. For the most part the film is pervaded by irrationality comics, which makes it hard to believe and illusion. Where the film does instead, is when you forget Marchal of its authorship and is forced to gender needs to tell us about the evolution of the thriller, which is more like regret that because of the circus costruitoci above. That said the film is not bad, nor is a failure. Marchal keeps turning well and to show that kicks us in the face we deserve them. Leviamoci But just to be pop-nihilists and really became interested in the stories. Needless to say, Daniel Auteuil, however, is a monster talent: there will be no 10 has actors around the world who have the same charisma. Mention for the sweet and talented Olivia Bonamy, who in his career had never been an actress from the first floor, but here is the most convincing, at least for what it shows: the only real character in a film loaded with a thousand.
