SCREENPLAY Olivier Marchal

Some date back in style with the explosion of the French Polar World Marchal phenomenon. First there was Gangsters: intrecciatissimo noir where they already saw the interest in a methodical construction of the characters by Marchal. Then came the worldwide success of 36: the elegance that goes hand in hand with the narration for a film perfect. In all the two films we already felt a lack of confidence on the part of a director to the police, especially when Cerne fallible methods of body status, a factor that explodes in this Mr. 73. Marchal intends to new issues dear to him and exalts them until you get to a more comprehensive that drama in a very academic thriller. There's the protagonist, cynical detective destroyed by the tragedy that has turned its back to life (and not God in him, as he will be convinced of this), because of an accident that tore off his wife and daughter; is flanked by Justine, who had witnessed the killing of their parents and who now faces the release of the offender from prison. Marchal stages Buddy on a violator of the rules, where the comparison between them will be more bad than spectacular, in line with its vision of the police. In short, we existentialism thriller with a background, where the characters rather than asking "why", they wonder if it's worth it. But not everything seems to work. The elegance becomes self-satisfaction of the director and for many parts of the film seems to load speed and wanting to put all the tragedy does not strike down as it should. For the most part the film is pervaded by irrationality comics, which makes it hard to believe and illusion. Where the film does instead, is when you forget Marchal of its authorship and is forced to gender needs to tell us about the evolution of the thriller, which is more like regret that because of the circus costruitoci above. That said the film is not bad, nor is a failure. Marchal keeps turning well and to show that kicks us in the face we deserve them. Leviamoci But just to be pop-nihilists and really became interested in the stories. Needless to say, Daniel Auteuil, however, is a monster talent: there will be no 10 has actors around the world who have the same charisma. Mention for the sweet and talented Olivia Bonamy, who in his career had never been an actress from the first floor, but here is the most convincing, at least for what it shows: the only real character in a film loaded with a thousand.
